School’s Out Days are an adventure that provides a fun and safe environment for kids when they are out of school. This camp inspired program includes a balance of fun, fitness, recreation, enrichment and creative themed activities while developing the potential of every child.

Our core values of caring, honesty respect, responsibility, and faith are at the heart of everything we do. While kids play, we challenge them to build life skills, deepen friendships, and grow in spirit mind and body.

Out of School Days: When School Is Out, the Y Is In!

The YMCA is here to support families on scheduled school closures. Our Out of School Days program provides children with a safe, structured, and engaging environment where they can spend their day having fun, staying active, and building friendships. Each day is thoughtfully planned by trained YMCA staff to balance recreation, enrichment, fitness, and creative exploration while reinforcing our core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith.


Program Information

🕒 Time: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM


💲 Fees:

  • YMCA Members: $35/day per child

  • Community Members: $65/day per child

A $10 late registration fee will apply for same-day registrations.

Supervision & Safety
All programs are led by trained and caring YMCA staff who prioritize child safety and positive engagement. Staff-to-child ratios ensure appropriate supervision, and all activities are designed to be developmentally appropriate for the age groups served.


Daily Activities

Each day is filled with a variety of structured and free-choice activities that promote creativity, movement, and fun. Activities may include:

  • 🎨 Arts & Crafts: creative projects to encourage imagination and self-expression

  • 🏀 Games & Recreation: active play that develops teamwork, leadership, and healthy habits

  • 🧩 Enrichment Activities: hands-on learning and problem-solving challenges

  • 🏊 Swimming: children should always bring a swimsuit and towel, as pool time is included in the schedule or as a backup option

  • 🌳 Outdoor Play: When the weather permits, children will enjoy outdoor games and activities


Meals & Snacks

  • Children must bring a sack lunch each day (lunch is not provided).

  • The YMCA provides a morning and afternoon snack.


What to Bring

To help your child have the best day possible, please send the following items each day:
✔️ Swim suit & towel (swimming is a regular or backup activity)
✔️ Outdoor clothing & proper footwear (jacket, sneakers, etc.)
✔️ Backpack/bag labeled with your child’s first and last name
✔️ Sack lunch


Registration & Policies

  • Registration is first-come, first-served. Pre-register to secure your child’s spot and avoid cancellations due to low enrollment.

  • Cancellation Policy: A two-week notice is required for all cancellations.

  • Your membership status at the time of registration determines your program fee.

  • Financial Assistance is available for qualifying families to ensure all children have the opportunity to participate.

Out of School Days: When school is out, the Y is in!

Time:

7:30am-5:30pm

Fees:

Member: $25/day per child
Community Member: $50/day per child

A late registration fee of $10 per child will be charged for same day registrations.

Activities

Program staff plan fun and developmentally appropriate activities. Activities include crafts, games, and swimming! On each Out of School Day, participants should come to the Y with a swimming suit and sack lunch.

Lunch & Snacks

Participants will need to bring a sack lunch each day as lunch is NOT provided.  The YMCA provides a morning and afternoon snack.

Other Recommended Items

Swim Suit & Towel: swimming is always in our back-up plan, even if it is not on our schedule initially.
Outdoor Wear: We try to go outside if possible. Please ensure your child has a jacket/outdoor wear and proper footwear for outdoor play.
Backpack/Bag: It is helpful if your child brings everything they will need for the day in a backpack/bag labeled with their first and last name.

Registration Information

Registration is on a first-come/first-served basis. Space is limited.

Daily Fees:

$38 members/$56 non-member

There is a $15 late registration fee.

Payments

$10 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration. The remaining balance will be drafted one week in advance. We accept all major credit/debit cards.

We require a two-week notification for all cancellations.

Financial Assistance is available for those who qualify.

Activities

We fill the day with indoor and outdoor group games, sports, team-building, crafts, science, swimming, and plenty of time to use their imagination and just play.

All activities are included in the cost of the program. We open the door for campers at 7:30 am. Our main themed program will take place during the hours of 9am-4pm. Aftercare is included and open until 5:30 pm.

Lunch & Snacks

Campers should pack a lunch and water bottle each day. A snack is provided each morning and afternoon.

Other Recommended Items

Swimsuit & Towel: We will plan to swim Tuesday and Thursday. All campers will be swim tested on their first day. Lifejackets are available or bring a coast guard approved puddle jumper from home labeled with name (goggles optional).

Outdoor Wear: We will be outside several times throughout the day. Please ensure your child has clothing appropriate for the weather with comfortable active wear that can get dirty and athletic shoes and socks. NO sandals, flip flops, crocs or boots.

Backpack/Bag: Please pack a bag labeled with camper’s first and last name. Siblings should pack separate bags/lunches and be responsible for their own belongings.

Please do not send your child with any additional items or toys from home. Thank you for helping us keep our camp safe by leaving all technology at home.

Participants must be potty trained.

Due to the winter snow and potential weather conditions overnight, in order to keep our members and staff safe, all YMCA of Coastal Carolina center locations will close remained closed on Thursday and open limited hours on Friday. Saturday will resume normal operating hours.

  • Thursday, January 23, 2025: All YMCA of Coastal Carolina centers will remain closed. (This includes 24 hour access at the Tidelands Health Georgetown Family YMCA.) 
  • Friday, January 24, 2025: Centers will be open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.  Please note services may be limited during this time.
  • Saturday, January 25, 2025: All YMCA of Coastal Carolina centers will resume normal operating hours.

We hope you and your family stayed safe during the storm. We will resume normal operations at all three YMCA of Coastal Carolina center locations at 11 a.m. today. 

  • Thursday, August 31: All three center locations will reopen at 11 a.m.
  • Friday, September 1: All three center locations will be open during normal hours.
 24-hour access will be unavailable to Tidelands Health Georgetown Family YMCA during the times the center is closed but will resume as normal tonight.
