Our Mission & History
Rooted in Christian principles, we’re dedicated to strengthening our community through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
Our Mission
To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
At the YMCA of Coastal Carolina, we believe that everyone — regardless of age, income, or background — deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. Our programs and services are designed to nurture youth, promote healthy living, and inspire social responsibility.
Our Core Values
- Caring: We show a sincere concern for others.
- Honesty: We are truthful in what we say and do.
- Respect: We treat others as we wish to be treated.
- Responsibility: We take ownership of our actions and commitments.
Our History
Growing Strong Since 1983
The YMCA of Coastal Carolina was founded in 1983, serving as a beacon for health, learning, and community connection across the Grand Strand and beyond. What began as a single location has grown into a network of YMCAs serving thousands of families each year.
Today, our branches in Myrtle Beach, Pawleys Island, and Georgetown continue to carry forward our original vision — providing accessible, inclusive programs that nurture the whole person: spirit, mind, and body.
From swim lessons that save lives to youth sports that build confidence, every program we offer reflects our mission to serve and strengthen the communities we call home.
Our Impact
Strengthening Community for All
Each year, we serve more than 10,000 individuals through our programs, memberships, and community initiatives. With income-based membership rates, financial assistance, and partnerships across the region, we ensure everyone has a place to belong and thrive at the Y.
Your membership and support help us:
- Provide affordable access to childcare and youth programs
- Promote healthy lifestyles through wellness and fitness programs
- Support neighbors through outreach and volunteer efforts
