About the Academy
The YMCA Early Learning Academy at Coastal Carolina University is a powerful partnership between the YMCA of Coastal Carolina, Coastal Carolina University’s Spadoni College of Education and Social Sciences, and the United Way of Horry County.
Formerly the CCU Early Childhood Development and Literacy Center, the Academy continues its legacy of providing high-quality, affordable early childhood education — now operated by the YMCA of Coastal Carolina.
Hands-On Experience for Future Teachers
CCU early childhood education students gain real-world classroom experience in teaching, curriculum development, and observation — preparing them to lead with confidence.
Data-Informed Child Development
In partnership with United Way of Horry County, we track developmental milestones and kindergarten readiness to ensure each child gets the foundation they need to succeed.
Affordability and Flexibility for Families
We accept ABC vouchers, offer sliding scale tuition based on income, and participate in South Carolina First Steps 4K to provide free 4K education for eligible children.
Room to Grow
Licensed to serve up to 110 children, the Academy offers room for expansion — with long-term plans to extend programs across Horry County and the Grand Strand.

Enrollment Information
Enrollment is open year-round for infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children. Families benefit from flexible scheduling and tuition options that make quality early education accessible to all.

- Preschool and 4K Readiness Programs
- First Steps 4K (free for qualifying families)
